GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #97273 December 11, 1997 BY: FINANCE AND PERSONNEL COMMITTEE:' SUE INN DOUGLAS, CHAIRPERSON IN RE: CENTRAL SERVICES - FLEET EXPANSION OF ONE (1) VEHICLE (VAN) TO BE SHARED BY COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS DIVISION AND PROBATE COURT To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS Misc. Resolution #93230 COUNTY POLICY ON LEASED VEHICLES requires any proposed expansion in the County fleet to be submitted to the Board of Commissioners for review and approval: and WHEREAS the Community Corrections Division of the Department of Public Services has requested the use of a van to transport participants in the Weekend Alternative for Misdemeanant (WAN) Program to and from court ordered work assignments on Saturdays and Sundays; and WHEREAS the Probate Court has requested the use of a van to transport youth and equipment to Youth Community Services (YCS) sites to perform court ordered work assignments Monday thru Friday; and WHEREAS the County Vehicle Policy requires fleet expansions to be accompanied by an appropriation sufficient to cover the acquisition cost plus monthly lease charges for the balance of the budget period; and WHEREAS both Community Corrections Division and Probate Court indicate that there are sufficient funds available in their budgets to cover their proportionate share of the annual operating cost; and WHEREAS sufficient funds are available in General Fund Contingency to cover the $25,000 acquisition cost of the subject vehicle; and WHEREAS the County Executive recommends expansion of the fleet. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners authorizes the expansion of the vehicle fleet by one (1) van to be shared by the Community Corrections Division for the Weekend Alternative for Misdemeanant (WAN) Program and the Probate Court for the Youth Community Services (YCS) Program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $25,000 be appropriated from General Fund Contingency Account to cover the acquisition cost of the subject vehicle.
