Moffitt, District #18 IN RE: PUBLIC HEARINGS REQUIRED TO INCREASE OR ADD NEW OAELAND COUNTY FEES To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS higher fees adversely affect economic opportunities for residents and businesses in Oakland County; and WHEREAS Oakland County should actively pursue policies to reduce the cost of government; and WHEREAS fees should be increased only when the public has an opportunity to voice their opinion. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners must hold a Public Hearing prior to the approval of any new fee or increase in existing fees by more than five (5) percent annually or the cost of living, as official indexed, whichever is less, for any such request not submitted through the annual budget process. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that notice of this Public Hearing must be properly publicly posted a minimum of twenty-eight days prior to its occurrence. Chairperson, I move adoption of the foregoing resolution. Resolution #98170 July 16, 1998 The Chairperson referred the resolution to the General Government and Finance Committees.
