IN RE: PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT - SALARY ADMINISTRATION THIRD QUARTERLY REPORT FOR
FY 1998
To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the Salary Administration Study Group Reports, approved by the Board
of Commissioners for Grades 1 - 21, provide a review and appeal process for
departments and employees wishing to challenge the salary grade placement of
classifications; and
WHEREAS the Salary Administration Third Quarterly Report for FY 1998 was
submitted to the Personnel Committee identifying the reviews requested and the salary
grade changes recommended by the Personnel Department after completion of this review
process; and
WHEREAS funding is available to implement the recommended salary grade changes
for the General Fund/General Purpose positions in the Classification and Rate Change
Account; and
WHEREAS funding is available for the Special Revenue/Proprietary position in
Drain funds; and
WHEREAS the Personnel Committee has reviewed and approved this report.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
authorizes implementation of the Salary Administration Third Quarterly Report for FY
1998 which includes the following personnel actions:

TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Pursuant to Rule XII-F of this Board, The Finance Committee has reviewed the above referenced resolution
and finds:
1. The Personnel Department, approved by the Board of Commissioners, for Grades 1 - 21 provides
a review and appeal process for departments and employees wishing to challenge the salary grade
placement of classifications.
2. The annual cost of the recommended salary grade placement changes for General Fund/General
Purpose positions is $15,373 for FY 1999 and $591 for the remainder of FY 1998.
3. The annual cost of the recommended salary grade placement changes for the Special Revenue Fund
position is $2,919 for FY 1999 and $112 for the remainder of FY 1998.
4. Funding is available for the General Fund/General Purpose positions in the Classification and Rate
Change Account.
5. A budget amendment is recommended to the FY 1999 and FY 2000 Executive Recommended
Budget. This amendment will be included in the budget material to be reviewed as part of the Budget
Process.
6. A budget amendment to the FY 1998 Adopted Budget is recommended as follows:
