District #21 RE: World Day of Prayer TO: Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, every year since the first World Day of Prayer in 1994, more and more people have accepted this divine appointment to join hundreds of thousands of people from many different faiths, cultures, and nations for one purpose: to pray; and WHEREAS, unity in prayer transcends religious denominations as a harmonizing, strengthening influence; and WHEREAS, through the power of united prayers, the spiritual consciousness of humankind can be raised while witnessing a divine outpouring of healing love and light; and WHEREAS, the Sixth Annual World Day of Prayer will be observed this year on Thursday, September 9, 1999. During this annual 24-hour vigil, people become as one united in prayer to help raise the spiritual consciousness of the world. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners do hereby recognize September 9, 1999 as World Day of Prayer and unite with participants in Oakland County and people around the world as partners in this consciousness-raising experience. Mr. Chairperson, I move the adoption of the foregoing Resolution. 147 4.1e- e - Resolution #99222 August 19, 1999 The Chairperson referred the resolution to the General Government Committee.
