IN RE: MR #01175 - BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS - SUPPORT FOR MAINTAINING THE RED
OAKS GOLF COURSE AS A PART OF THE OAKLAND COUNTY PARKS SYSTEM
To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
The General Government Committee, having reviewed the above-titled
resolution on July 9, 2001, reports that the resolution be adopted with the
existing NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED paragraphs
struck and the following language inserted:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners hereby strongly urges all interested parties to work
together to restore the Red Oaks Golf Course.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be
forwarded to all interested parties.
Chairperson, on behalf of the General Government Committee, I move
acceptance of the foregoing report.

The Planning and Building Committee, having reviewed the above referenced resolution on July
10, 2001, recommends the resolution be adopted per the changes made in the General Government
Committee Report of July 9, 2001.

foregoing Report.

IN RE: MR #01175 - BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS - SUPPORT FOR MAINTAINING
THE RED OAKS GOLF COURSE AS PART OF THE OAKLAND COUNTY PARKS SYSTEM
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Pursuant to Rule XII-C of this Board, the Finance Committee has
reviewed the above named Miscellaneous Resolution and finds:
1. The resolution requests the Board of Commissioners support
the idea of urging all interested parties to work together
to restore the Red Oaks Golf Course as part of the Oakland
County Parks system.
2. No budget amendment is recommended, as there are no
financial implications at this time.

MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #01175

IN RE: BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS — SUPPORT FOR MAINTAINING
THE RED OAKS COURSE GOLF AS A PART OF THE OAKLAND COUNTY
PARKS SYSTEM
To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the Red Oaks Golf Course, located in Madison Heights, has
been a part of the Oakland County Parks system for nearly 30 years; and
WHEREAS literally thousands of Oakland County citizens who reside in
the southeast section of Oakland County have enjoyed the use of that Course;
and
WHEREAS the Golf Course has been closed due to required
environmental drainage construction; and
WHEREAS the citizens of the 14 communities,-*Pewipp4maiegrmck* c-r?
damn, approximately $3,300,000 in county parks tax each year; and
WHEREAS the interests of Oakland County citizens would best be
served by rebuilding the Red Oaks Golf Course.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board
of Commissioners hereby strongly urges the Oakland County Parks and
Recreation Commission to lease or purchase the required land in order to
restore, by whatever means necessary, the Red Oaks Golf Course.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded
to the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission and to all Oakland
County governmental units.
Chairperson, on behalf of the Planning and Building Committee, I move
the adoption of the forgoing resolution.

The Chairperson referred the resolution to the Planning and Building,
General Government and Finance Committees. There were no objections.

with the recommendation in the General Government Committee Report.
