GALLOWAY, VICE CHAIRPERSON RE: SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT — 2001/2002 SECONDARY ROAD PATROL GRANT ACCEPTANCE To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: The Personnel Committee, having reviewed the above mentioned resolution on December 5, 2001, recommends the resolution be adopted. MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #01319 December 13, 2001 BY: Finance Committee, Sue Ann Douglas, Chairperson IN RE: SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT - 2001/2002 SECONDARY ROAD PATROL GRANT ACCEPTANCE To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS pursuant to Miscellaneous Resolution #01030, the Sheriff Department applied to the Michigan Department of State Police - Office of Highway Safety Planning for $1,047,698 in grant funding from Public Act 416 to conduct secondary road patrol activities for the period October l, 2001 through September 30, 2002; and WHEREAS the Michigan Department of State Police - Office of Highway Safety Planning has awarded Oakland County with a grant in the amount of $1,047,698, which is a 8.25%. decrease under the 2000/2001 award; and WHEREAS the attached schedule shows the total award contributed by the State; WHEREAS the grant has been reduced from the previous award by $94,267; and WHEREAS since the grant has been reduced it is requested that one (1) Deputy II and one (1) Patrol vehicle with radio and MDC be eliminated from the Sheriff Patrol Grant; and WHEREAS acceptance of this grant does not obligate the County to any future commitment. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approves the 2001/2002 Public Act 416 Secondary Road Patrol Grant from the State of Michigan Department of State Police in the amount of $1,047,698 and the Fiscal Year 2002 Budget be amended, as specified in the attached schedule, to account for the grant. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that one (1) Special Revenue Deputy II position (Pos.#43630-07502) be deleted in the Traffic Unit, Patrol Services Division, Sheriff's Department. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that one (1) patrol vehicle with mobile radio and MDC be eliminated from the County Fleet. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairperson of the Board is authorized to sign the grant agreement and to approve grant modifications and extensions, within fifteen (15) percent of the original award, consistent with the grant agreement approved. Chairperson, on behalf of the Finance Committee, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution.
