HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 2001.10.25 - 26613MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #01261 October 11, 2001 BY: GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE, WILLIAM PATTERSON, CHAIRPERSON IN RE: BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS/LIBRARY BOARD - REQUEST TO PURCHASE NEW MAIL CARD PRINTER TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, the Oakland County Library for the Visually and Physically Impaired provides library services to individuals who are unable to use standard print materials; and WHEREAS, this service is provided to patrons via the United States mail, with mailing cards generated and printed on a daily basis; and WHEREAS, if the mail card printer fails to operate properly, this service cannot be provided and patrons will not receive the materials they have requested; and WHEREAS, rather than replace the current mail card printer, Library and Information Technology staff agree that it would be appropriate to add a second mail card printer; and WHEREAS, based on bids submitted to Information Technology, the cost of purchasing a new mail card printer will not exceed $5,500; and WHEREAS, the purchase of this equipment will be done through Information Technology, with reimbursement from the County Library Board; and WHEREAS, funds exist in the County Library Reserve Fund to cover the purchase of this equipment; and WHEREAS, annual maintenance and support costs will be incorporated into the Library's budget beginning in FY 2002. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approves the purchase of a new mail card printer for the Library for the Visually and Physically Impaired, to be funded by the Library Board. The Oakland County Library for the Visually and Physically Impaired requested another mail card printer to assure uninterrupted library services via the United States Mail. 2. The Library, working in conjunction with the Information Technology Department, plans to purchase the new mail card printer for an amount not to exceed $5,500. 3.
