IN RE: MR #04128 — BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS — SUPPORT FOR OAKLAND
UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF NURSING EXPANSION
To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
The General Government Committee, having reviewed Miscellaneous Resolution
#04128 on June 7, 2004, reports with a recommendation that the resolution be adopted.
Chairperson, on behalf of the General Government Committee, I move
acceptance of the foregoing report.

MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION 104128

IN RE: BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS - SUPPORT FOR OAKLAND UNIVERSITY SCHOOL
OF NURSING EXPANSION
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS Oakland University's School of Nursing opened in 1975 to train
students in the skills needed to provide comprehensive, patient-
centered healthcare services in America's medical facilities, and
WHEREAS with the success of its nursing program, Oakland University has
begun to reach the full capacity in its present facilities, and
WHEREAS Oakland University has requested funding through the FY 2005
Labor/HHS/Education Appropriations bill for funds to create a Nurse
Training Institute, and
WHEREAS funding for this facility would help to further build the
positive images of the university, the State of Michigan and Oakland
County, as well as aid America in addressing the shortage of nurses in
healthcare facilities nationwide, and
WHEREAS funding the Nurse Training Institute will allow Oakland
University to add to its already prestigious faculty, increase its
enrollment, develop new groundbreaking courses and offer skill
enhancement and continuing education nppnrtnties to currently
employed nurses, and
WHEREAS the Oakland County Board of Commicsinrers is supportive of
Oakland University's efforts to create a Nurse Training Institute.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners supports Oakland University's FY 2075 appropriation
request in the Labor/HHS/Education Appropriations bill for funds to
create a Nurse Training Institute.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be forwarded to
the U.S. Representative Joe Knollenberg, Senator Carl_ ke4n, and
Senator Debbie Stabenow.
