To reduce favorable environments for the Cu/ex mosquito, city crews will be cleaning 1,184 storm sewer catch basins with a sewer-jet vactor truck. We have the mosquito larvacide, which we will apply to all road and City property storm sewer catch basins during the optimal breeding season (early June). We have the MDEQ certification (R97-05/002) which authorizes us to apply the larvacide. All that remains is to notify the District Supervisor of the Water Division (Hae-Jin Yoon - yoonh@michigan.gov ) just before treatments commence. The emphasis on public education includes an article on the City's website, as well as links to both the Oakland County and State of Michigan West Nile Virus web sites. Bruce D.
