HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 2005.12.08 - 27829David Woodward Commissioner, District #18 Miscellaneous Resolution #05313 BY: Commissioner David Woodward, District #18 IN RE: Board of Commissioners — Amendment to County Policy on Assignment of County Vehicles TO: Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the Board of Commissioners adopted Miscellaneous Resolution #7393 entitled "County Policy on Assignment of County Vehicles" in 1976; and amended Miscellaneous Resolution #7924, #91235, and #93230; and WHEREAS the assignment of a County vehicle is in effect a trust; and WHEREAS the Board of Commissioners is committed to taking steps to insure the safety of its employees and the greater community at large. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners hereby amends the County Policy on Assignment of County Vehicles to read as follows: III. HOME/WORK ASSIGNMENTS It is the intention of this policy that home/work assignments shall be kept to a minimum. In any case where it is determined that it is to the County's advantage to have the employee take a County vehicle home at the end of the normal work day, it is understood that the vehicle to be used for the conduct of official business only, and, not for personal activities. Under no circumstances shall a vehicle be assigned to an employee under this section who has been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol. The County Executive, in determining "Home/Work" assignments will give consideration to the following: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners strongly urges the Oakland County Road Commission and the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission to adopt a similar policy as it relates to their respective policies regarding assigning overnight vehicles to appointed officials and employees. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this adopted resolution be forwarded to the Oakland County Road Commission and the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission.
