IN RE: SHERIFF'S OFFICE - FY 2006 SECONDARY ROAD PATROL AND TRAFFIC ACCIDENT
PREVENTION PROGRAM GRANT ACCEPTANCE
To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the Sheriff's Office applied to the Michigan Department of
State Police - Office of Highway Safety Planning for $1,082,752 in grant
funding from Public Act 416 to conduct secondary road patrol activities for
the period October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006; and
WHEREAS the Michigan Department of State Police - Office of Highway
Safety Planning has awarded Oakland County with a grant in the amount of
$1,082,752, which is a slight decrease over the FY 2005 award; and
WHEREAS the grant provides funding for eight (8) Deputy II positions
(#1539, #2572, #2957, #3114, #3324, #7327, #7501 and #9191) and two (2)
Sergeant positions (#7790 and 49982) located in the Patrol Services Division;
and
WHEREAS no county match or additional positions are required; and
WHEREAS the acceptance of this grant does not obligate the County to
any future commitment; and
WHEREAS the continuation of the program is contingent upon future
levels of reimbursement program funding.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners approves the FY 2006 Secondary Road Patrol Grant award from the
Michigan Department of State Police - Office of Highway Safety Planning in
the amount of $1,082,752 and that the Board Chairperson, on behalf of the
County of Oakland, is authorized to execute said agreement as attached.
Chairperson, on behalf of the Public Services Committee, I move
adoption of the foregoing resolution.

Secondary Road Patrol
Program Report Requirements
QUARTERLY FINANCIAL REPORTS must be submitted quarterly and received by the Office of Highway Safety Planning no later
than 20 days following the end of each quarter. The QUARTERLY FINANCIAL REPORT is the basis for reimbursement of
expenditures incurred by the county.
SEMI-ANNUAL PROGRAM REPORT is to be completed twice during the grant period. Each report will contain data for two
quarterly periods. The mid year report will cover the period October 1 through March 31 (Quarter 1 and Quarter 2) and is due in
011SP on April 20. The year end report will cover the period April 1 through September 30 (Quarter 3 and Quarter 4) and is due in
OHSP on October 20.
ANNUAL PROGRAM REPORT 1978 PA 416, as amended, requires that a county receiving funds under the Act shall submit an
Annual Report for the year in which it has received an allocation. This report will cover the period October 1 through September
30, and is due in the Office of Highway Safety Planning on October 20 following the end of the grant year.

TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Pursuant to Rule XII-C of this Board, the Finance Committee has reviewed the
above referenced resolution and finds:
1. The Michigan Department of State Police - Office of Highway Safety
Planning awarded Oakland County a grant in the amount of $1,082,752 for
the period October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006. The award
represents a ($90,680) decrease from the FY 2005 award. This is the 27 th
year of grant funding.
2. The grant provides funding for eight (8) Deputy =I positions and two (2)
Sergeant positions, located in the Patrol Services Division. The
staffing level remains the same as the FY 2005 program.
3. No County match is required.
4. Indirect costs totaling $47,118 are an allowable and recoverable
expenditure. However, sufficient funds are not available from the State
to recover these costs.
5. A budget amendment is recommended to the FY 2006 Special Revenue Budget
as follows:
