IN RE: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION - IN SUPPORT OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF
THE 2006-2007 COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANT
To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Urban & Community
Forestry Program has awarded Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission
grant funding in the amount of $3,000 for the period of October 1, 2006
through September 1, 2007; and
WHEREAS a local County
project cost of $6,000, is

Thank you for your Interest in the Community Forestry Grant program. This program is administered by Forest, Mineral
and Fire Management Division's Urban and Community Forestry Program, with funding from the USDA Forest Service,
State and Private Forestry (CFDA #10.664).
The committee has recently completed reviews of the 2006-07 Community Forestry Grant applications. I am pleased to
inform you that your request was among those recommended for funding. We have approved funding in the amount of
$3000 towards completion of your project. If. for any reason, you are not able to use these grant funds, please notify me
as soon as possible so that I may reissue them to another applicant
I have enclosed two copies of the Grant Agreement (PR 4107 -3). Please review the information. including the grant
amount. Federal Employer Identification Number (tax number), and contact person 's information for accuracy. Please
sign and return both copies of the Grant Agreement within 10 business days. Also enclosed are the following

days after the grant expiration date. The grant expires September 1, 2007, ono will not be extended beitond this date_

5. The Grantee hereby assures and certifies that ne)she will comply with all State and Federal laws, rules, regulations,
policies, guidelines, and requirements. Also, the applicant assures and certifies with respect to the agreement that:
Grantee possesses legal authority to apply for the grant: that a resolution, motion or similar action has been duly
adopted or passed as an official act or the Grantee's governing body. authorizing the filing of the application, including
all understandings and assurances contained Therein. and directing and authorizing the person identified as the official

THE 2006-2007 COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANT
WHEREAS, Oakland County Park and Recreation has been notified of the award of a 2006-2007
COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANT, administered by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources: and
WHEREAS, the $3,000.00 reimbursement grant will help offset the cost of reforestation efforts at
the Groveland Oaks Campground that has been budgeted for fiscal year 2007. and
WHEREAS, the matching funds for the COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANT will come from the %

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Parks and Recreation
Commission supports the acceptance of the 2006-2007 COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANT,

Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Pursuant to Rule XII-C of this Board, the Finance Committee has
reviewed the above referenced Miscellaneous Resolution and finds:
1. The Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission has been awarded
a grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Urban &
Community Forestry Program in the amount of $3,000.
2. The grant period is October 1, 2006 through September 1, 2007.
3. The total cost of the project is $6,000 for which Parks and
Recreation Commission is required to provide a 50%- ($3,000) grant
match.
4. The Parks and Recreation Commission has designated local match (50*)
in-kind funds in its 2007 Budget, which is funded by 1,4 mill Parks
and Recreation Levy for expenditures.
5. A budget amendment for FY 2007 is recommended as follows to reflect
the grant award.
