HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 2019.02.07 - 30978MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #19027 February 7, 2019 BY: Commissioner Gary McGillivray, Chairperson, Public Satety and Social Justice Committee IN RE: SHERIFF'S OFFICE — 2019 MARINE SAFETY PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the Sheriffs Office is applying to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for Public Act 451 funding administered through the Marine Safety Grant Program to conduct Marine Safety activities; and WHEREAS the 2019 grant program period is January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019 for State funding and January 1, 2019 through September 30, 2019 for Federal funding; and WHEREAS this is the 44th year of grant application; and WHEREAS last year the Sheriffs Office applied for $585,235 and was awarded $124,000 in grant funding; and WHEREAS the grant application is requesting $671,824 of which $483,170 is for operations and $188,654 is for equipment; and WHEREAS there is no match requirement for Federal funding and a 25% match requirement for State funding which will be met by Marine Safety Program expenses budgeted in the Sheriff Office's General Fund budget; and WHEREAS this grant application has completed the Grant Review Process and is in compliance with Miscellaneous Resolution #19006. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approves the submission of the 2019 Marine Safety Grant Application from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, for the period January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019, in the amount of $671,824. BE IT FURTHER RESOLOVED that application of this grant does not obligate the County to any future commitment and continuation of this program is contingent upon continued future levels of grant funding.
