Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Gershenson, Jackson, Luebs, Markham, McGillivray, Miller, Nelson, Woodward, Zack. (9) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Powell, Quarles. (2) Quorum present. Moved by Jackson seconded by Miller the minutes of the January 9, 2019 Caucus be approved. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved. The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda. Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds, Lisa Brown addressed the Caucus regarding a proposed new Miscellaneous Resolution to come before the Legislative Affairs and Government Operations Committee entitled: Clerk/Register of Deeds – Elections Division – Board of County Canvassers Compensation. Discussion followed. Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus regarding a correction to the Substance Abuse Advisory Council appointments, the formation of a subcommittee to draft an RFP for outside council and creating a special commission to work with the Health and Human Services – Health Division regarding a response plan for food assistance for federal employees impacted by the federal shutdown. Discussion followed. Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus regarding a timeline on developing a resolution calling for an end to the federal shutdown. Discussion followed. Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus regarding who should be notified when introducing new resolutions and proclamations. Democratic Caucus Minutes Continued. January 24, 2019 23 Chairperson Gary McGillivray addressed the Caucus regarding the Caucus Memo, Youth in Government Day on February 6th and the OLSHA 2019 Walk for Warmth being held on February 9, 2019 at the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets. Discussion followed. Commissioner Gershenson addressed the Caucus regarding a new proposed Miscellaneous Resolution being introduced today by Commissioner Powell entitled: Board of Commissioners – Designation of February, 2019 as African American History Month in Oakland County. She stated that Commissioner Powell will be requesting Suspension of the Board Rules for Immediate Consideration Under New Business. Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus regarding a new proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled: Board of Commissioners – Recognition of School Breakfast Week in Oakland County – March 4- 8, 2019. He stated that he will request this be referred to the Legislative Affairs and Government Operations Committee. Jim Ryan, Lobbyist, Public Affairs Associates addressed the Caucus regarding the State of the State address in Lansing on February 5, 2019. Discussion followed. The Caucus recessed at 8:45 a.m. The Caucus reconvened at 10:32 a.m. Michael Andrews, Senior Board of Commissioners Analyst addressed the Caucus regarding the agendas for upcoming committee meetings.
