Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Gershenson, Jackson, Luebs, Markham, McGillivray, Miller, Nelson, Powell, Quarles, Woodward, Zack. (11) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: None. (0) Quorum present. No one addressed the Caucus during Public Comment. Moved by Nelson seconded by Miller the minutes of the May 8, 2019 Caucus be approved. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved. The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda. Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus regarding the success of the Local Road Improvement Program. Commissioner Jackson addressed the Caucus regarding a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution she will introduce entitled: Board of Commissioners – Declaration of May 25, 2019 as National Missing Children’s Day in Oakland County. She stated that she will request suspension of the Board Rules for immediate consideration under New Business. Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus regarding a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution he will introduce entitled: Board of Commissioners - Declaration of June 7, 2019 as National Gun Violence Awareness Day in Oakland County and Support the Wear Orange Campaign. He stated that he will request suspension of the Board Rules for immediate consideration under New Business. Commissioner Jackson addressed the Caucus regarding the Complete Count Committee and available jobs for the upcoming Census. Discussion followed. Commissioner Quarles addressed the Caucus regarding the Oakland County Bicentennial Committee. She stated that the committee will present a budget for the Bicentennial festivities at the June 12, 2019 Board of Commissioners meeting. Democratic Caucus Minutes Continued. May 23, 2019 273 Commissioner Gershenson addressed the Caucus regarding the Celebration of Women’s Suffrage and the commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Right to Vote in Michigan. Discussion followed. Commissioner Nelson addressed the Caucus regarding the development and coordination of a shared three-month event calendar for the Commissioners. Discussion followed. Commissioner Powell addressed the Caucus and stated that a presentation by Richard Bell regarding STEAM Camp will be added to the Communications portion of the Board of Commissioners meeting. Discussion followed. Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus to congratulate Commissioner Powell for her work on the livable wage issue and to update the Commissioners on the upcoming renovations and addition to the Water Resources Commission building and proposed amendments to the County’s DC/DB Retirement Plan. Chris Ward, Board of Commissioners Chief of Staff addressed the Caucus regarding the Caucus Memo. Discussion followed. Commissioner Powell addressed the Caucus regarding the ongoing lifeguard shortage in Oakland County. Discussion followed.
