Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Gershenson, Jackson, Luebs, Markham, McGillivray, Miller, Nelson, Powell, Quarles, Woodward, Zack. (11) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: None. (0) Quorum present. Max Rohtbart, West Bloomfield Township addressed the Caucus regarding non-partisan politics. Discussion followed. Moved by Markham seconded by Jackson the minutes of the July 31, 2019 Caucus be approved. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved. Commissioner Gershenson addressed the Caucus to introduce Floyd E. Allen and Luis Gomez, Attorneys for the Board of Commissioners and JoEllen Shortley, Corporation Counsel. Floyd E. Allen, Attorney for the Board of Commissioners addressed the Caucus regarding typical procedures involved in the filing of an injunction. Discussion followed. Commissioner Quarles addressed the Caucus regarding the possibility of postponing the appointment of the County Executive to another date. Discussion followed. Chris Ward, Board of Commissioners Chief of Staff addressed the Caucus regarding the Caucus Memo. Commissioner Miller addressed the Caucus regarding Commissioner Woodward rescinding his resignation. Discussion followed. Commissioner Zack addressed the Caucus regarding rescheduling the Budget Hearings. Caucus recessed at 9:03 a.m. Democratic Caucus Minutes Continued. August 16, 2019 493 Chairperson Gary McGillivray called the Caucus to reconvene at 11:39 a.m. Roll called. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Gershenson, Jackson, Luebs, Markham, McGillivray, Miller, Nelson, Powell, Quarles, Woodward, Zack. (11) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: None. (0) Quorum present. Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus regarding the possibility of an injunction being served to the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Quarles addressed the Caucus to request the Commissioners delay the vote on a new County Executive. Discussion followed. Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus to urge the Commissioners to leave the current executive management team in place. Discussion followed. JoEllen Shortley, Corporation Counsel addressed the Caucus to inform the Commissioners that the Motion for Injunction was denied. Commissioner Miller addressed the Caucus to nominate David Coulter, Mayor of Ferndale as candidate for the County Executive position. Commissioner Zack seconded. Discussion followed. Phillip Bertolini, Deputy County Executive, Robert Daddow, Deputy County Executive and Laurie Van Pelt, Deputy County Executive addressed the Caucus to announce their intention to retire if the executive management team is changed. Discussion followed. Commissioner Bob Hoffman addressed the Caucus regarding moving forward together and preserving the status quo. Discussion followed. Vicki Barnette, Farmington Hills addressed the Caucus.
