Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Gershenson, Jackson, Luebs, Markham, McGillivray, Miller, Nelson, Powell, Quarles, Woodward, Zack. (11) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: None. (0) Quorum present. Charlene Yarbrough addressed the Caucus regarding appointments to the Board of County Canvassers. Discussion followed. Jordan Smellie addressed the Caucus regarding appointments to the Board of County Canvassers. Discussion followed. Moved by Jackson seconded by Luebs the minutes of the September 18, 2019 Caucus be approved. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved. Moved by Nelson seconded by Miller the minutes of the September 25, 2019 Caucus be approved. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved. The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda. Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus regarding Economic Growth and Infrastructure Committee item c. entitled: Economic Development and Community Affairs – Renewal of Oakland County Microloan Program. Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus regarding Public Safety and Social Justice Committee item b. entitled: Board of Commissioners/Sheriff’s Office – Contract Extension with HAVEN, Inc. to Provide Services to Victims of Sexual Assault Through the Safe Therapeutic Assault Response Team (START) FY 2020. Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus regarding Motion to Discharge MR #19248 – Board of Commissioners – Request Michigan’s Attorney General to Cease Efforts to Shutdown Enbridge Line 5. October 3, 2019 586 Commissioner Quarles addressed the Caucus regarding Legislative Affairs and Government Operations Committee item a. entitled: Board of Commissioners - Appointments to the Board of County Canvassers. Commissioner Gershenson addressed the Caucus regarding the amendment to MR #19306 - Fiscal Year 2020 General Appropriations ACT and 2020 County General Property Tax Rates. Sean Carlson, Deputy County Executive is working with the Board on this matter. Discussion followed. Commissioner Markham addressed the Caucus to announce the Airport Committee will be touring 3 Oakland County Airports on October 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Commissioners are welcome to join them. Commissioner Jackson addressed the Caucus to thank April Lynch, Deputy County Executive for reaching out to her and working on Diversity and Inclusion in Oakland County. Discussion followed. Commissioner Gershenson addressed the Caucus to announce the Oakland County Celebration of Women’s Suffrage Ad Hoc Committee is hosting the Iron Jawed Angels film screening at Emagine in Royal Oak on October 14, 2019. Commissioner Nelson addressed the Caucus regarding the 2019 Holiday Extravaganza in Pontiac. Discussion followed. Commissioner Quarles addressed the Caucus regarding the hiring of a Project Management Firm for the Oakland County Bicentennial. Commissioner Miller addressed the Caucus regarding the Oakland County Democratic Party Phil Hart Dinner which is being held on November 16, 2019 at the Troy Marriott. Chairperson Gary McGillivray addressed the Caucus to announce Detroit Institute of Arts, County Leader Night on October 11, 2019 and October 25, 2019 is the Campaign Statement filing deadline. Chairperson Gary McGillivray addressed the Caucus to announce open enrollment has begun for county benefits and the deadline for verification is October 23, 2019. Chairperson McGillivray addressed the Caucus to announce the Wellness Fair being held today at Oakland Schools Auditorium. Flu shots will be available at no charge to county employees.
