IN RE: FACILITIES PLANNING & ENGINEERING/CLERK/REGISTER OF DEEDS — CLERK/REGISTER
OF DEEDS SOUTH OAKLAND OFFICE BUILDING SATELLITE OFFICE PROJECT
To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the County Clerk's/Register of Deeds Office is housed in the main courthouse on the County
campus; and
WHEREAS there are no other County Clerk's/Register of Deeds Offices located in the County; and
WHEREAS the population density of Oakland County increases towards the southeast corner of the
County, while the current office is closer to the County's center; and
WHEREAS creating a satellite office for the County Clerk/Register of Deeds at the South Oakland Office
Building (SOOB) in Troy, will facilitate the Clerk's/Register of Deeds ability to service customers closer to
their homes and places of work, thus reducing traffic on the County campus and in the courthouse; and
WHEREAS office space, near the main entrance and security station of the SOOB, is unoccupied; and
WHEREAS existing Clerk's/Register of Deeds staff will occupy the new office space and no new staffing
requests are forthcoming; and
WHEREAS a front counter, secure foyer, file storage and office space will be constructed; and
WHEREAS the total project cost is $49,274, including annual (competitively bid) contractor costs of $192
for flooring from Floor Transformations, $500 for heating/cooling from Johnson Controls, Inc., as well as
$6,900 for architectural from Allied Building Services; $2,599 for voice/data from Thumb Communications;
$19,841 for furniture from AIREA; $12,815 for labor/materials from Facilities Maintenance & Operations;
and $6,427 for contingency (see attached project estimate); and
WHEREAS funding in the amount of $49,274 is available for transferfrom the FY 2020 Capital Improvement
Program/Building Fund (#40100) to the Project Work Order Fund (#40400) for the Clerk's/Register of Deeds
South Oakland Office Building Satellite Office Project,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners authorizes the
Clerk's/Register of Deeds South Oakland Office Building Satellite Office Project in the amount of $49,274.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners authorizes the transfer of
funding for the Clerk's/Register of Deeds South Oakland Office Building Satellite Office Project
(#100000003110) in the amount of $49,274 from the Capital Improvement Program/Building Fund (#40100)
to the4 Project Work Order Fund (#40400) as detailed below:
