To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Health, Safety and Human Services Committee, upon review of the upcoming expiring appointment on
the Michigan Department of Human Services — Oakland County DHS Agency Board, hereby recommends
the following appointment to the Oakland County DHS Board for a three-year term beginning November 1,
2020 — October 31, 2023, as detailed below:

I am honored to have this opportunity to serve on the Oakland County MDHHS Board.
My 30 plus years of experience in the child welfare/social services field, as an
Attorney, foster parent, and adoptive parent, has given be diverse skills and insight
as to issues, resources, and opportunities that are vital to Oakland County
constituents and the community at large. I am passionate about using my skills to
help others. I am dedicated to the work of the Department while bringing a different
perspective and voice. I am committed to the work of this board and look forward to
continuing to serve as a board member.

THE BIOGRAPHY OF ATTORNEY SHERRIE C. ROSS
As President and CEO of Ross Law Offices, PLLC, Sherrie is currently
serving on the Oakland County Department of Health & Human Services
Board where we was just elected to preside as President of District 6
MCSSA Advisory Board representative of 10 counties of appointed
members of the MDHHS boards. Attorney Ross currently serves as Legal
Counsel on the leadership team of Citadel of Faith Covenant Church.
Attorney Ross has served as a National and International Business
Consultant for both newly developed and well established Corporations
in the public and private sectors. This University of Michigan Alumni
and Hall of Famer has developed and implemented assessment plans,
personnel policies and procedures, strategic planning sessions. She
created new business owners opportunities, and other like workshops and
seminars to help business owners stay savvy while being in total compliance
with state and federal regulations. Sherrie has represented various churches
in various capacities. Most notably in problem solving and conflict
resolution in congregational splits and assisted various pastors with
personal legal issues. She served as the Director/Consultant of the Michigan
Concerned Clergy which is an organization established by Pastors of
churches in Michigan.
Attorney Sherrie C. Ross has been a longtime legal advisor to D& J Promotions
and Management a company owned by Dr. Christine Johnson (mother of Basketball great
Earvin "Magic" Johnson) and her partner Jackie Day. As legal Advisor, Sherrie has had
the opportunity to be a part of various NBA players' basketball camps. She also coached
youths in the British Virgin Isles First basketball camp featuring basketball greats: Carmela
Anthony, Tashaun Prince, and Jason Richardson to name a few. This camp registered over
300 youths. Sherrie has developed and implemented her own annual conference for
Entertainers and Athletes entitled: "Challeneine the Industry to Do Business God's
Way." This is a power packed conference that walks lay people through all types of
contracts and other documents that they encounter doing business in the industry. The
workshop participants learn what God has to say about every aspect of the covenants they
enter and deals they make.
Attorney Ross has also served as Legal advisor to Stellar Awards Producer, Barbara Wilson
as well as negotiating contracts on behalf of numerous recording artist and Record
companies. She has served as a Columnist to the Gospel USA Magazine and served as
legal advisor to the New Citizens Press Newspaper. She is an Artist. Her works have been
displayed publicly throughout Michigan. She's an author.
While working with Athletes and Entertainers is fun and exciting, Sherrie's heart is
passionate for strengthening and preserving families. She works endless hours most often
pro bono assisting children in the Foster care and adoption system. Sherrie has worked as
an advocate in the Juvenile Justice System since 1987. Attorney Ross currently serves on
the Oakland County Department of Human Services. She was appointed to this board by
the Oakland County Commissioners and is currently serving a three-year term. She served
on the State's Juvenile Justice Commission, State Foster Care Review Advisory Board for
8 years and the Wayne County Foster Care Review Board for 10 years. She has been a
member of the Foster and Adoptive Parent Association of Michigan and has conducted
statewide trainings. She has met with former Supreme Court Justice Mora Corrigan to
address the issues youths face when they come to the attention of the Juvenile Court.
Sherrie established The S. Ross Foundation, Inc. a private non-profit organization that is
established to empower families, to strengthen and preserve them by creating economic
self-sufficiency through the Arts. Sherrie is approximately 25 credit hours short of her
Master of Divinity degree from Ashland Theological Seminary. She is a member of Citadel
of Faith covenant Church, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is a former member
of the Optimist Club. Sherrie has been both a foster parent and have adopted children. She
is the mother of seven active children and one four year old grandson. Two of her daughters
have graduated from college: one from Michigan State University and the other from
Princeton University and she currently has a daughter who is a Senior at Western Michigan
University and a Son who is a Freshman at Oakland Community College. Sherrie's hobbies
include running, writing, reading and painting.
