HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 2020.11.19 - 33893MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #20574 November 19, 2020 BY: Commissioner Penny Luebs, Chairperson, Health, Safety and Human Services Committee IN RE: ANIMAL SHELTER AND PET ADOPTION CENTER — AMENDMENT TO MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #20232 ACCEPTANCE OF GIFT TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER AND PET ADOPTION CENTER To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS on July 2, 2020, Miscellaneous Resolution (MR) #20232 was passed by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to accept a donation in the amount of $12,376.11 by Mr. Kenneth Earl Thweatt; and WHEREAS the donation of $12,376.11 was only one account of two inherited by the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center by the passing of Mr. Kenneth Earl Thweatt; and WHEREAS another inherited IRA account is for $44,558.24, which may fluctuate in market value, with the Shelter being the benefactor; and WHEREAS this resolution amends MR #20232 to include the additional $44,558.24 for a total donation of $56,934.35 generously bestowed to the Animal Shelter by Mr. Kenneth Earl Thweatt; and WHEREAS once this donation is accepted by the Board of Commissioners, the IRA funds will be deposited into the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center's Legacy Fund (#21310); and WHEREAS MR #83204 requires that gift donations with a value of $10,000 or more, with no match or other financial obligations to the County, be reviewed by the department's/division's liaison committee, acknowledged by the Board of Commissioners by signed resolution, accounted for in the appropriate departmental donation account, and recorded as a general fixed County asset. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners acknowledges this amendment to Miscellaneous Resolution #20232 to include an additional donation of $44,558.24, making the total donation generously bestowed to the Animal Shelter by the late Kenneth Earl Thweatt $56,934.35. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the donation will be accounted for in the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center's Legacy Fund (#21310).
