HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 2020.11.19 - 33901REQUESTING SUSPENSION OF THE BOARD RULES FOR IMMEDIATE CONSIDERATION _ UNDER NEW BUSINESS MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #20583 BY: Commissioner Marcia Gershenson, District #13 IN RE: BOARD OF COMMISSIONER — APPROVAL OF THE REALLOCATION OF CARES ACT CORONAVIRUS RELIEF FUND MONEYTO OAKLAND TOGETHER CULTURAL INSTITUTION COVID- 19 SUPPORT FUND To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS on September 3, 2020 the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approved Miscellaneous Resolution #20365, which established the Oakland Together Cultural Institutions COVID-19 Support Fund and allocated $2,000,000 in funding from the $219,438,710 of the Coronavirus Relief Fund; and WHEREAS the purpose of the Oakland Together Cultural Institutions COVID-19 Support Fund is to provide financial assistance to Oakland County cultural institutions that have been negatively impacted economically by the COVID-19 pandemic; and WHEREAS the Oakland County Board of Commissioners also established the Oakland Together Emergency Financial Assistance Program and Working Families Support Program via MR #20190; and WHEREAS the spread of the COVID-19 virus has been rapid and far-reaching across Oakland County, causing significant economic distress across all sectors of our economy and has been particularly devastating for the cultural and creative sector; and WHEREAS the demand for financial assistance from cultural institutions in Oakland County has exceeded the original allocated amount of $2,000,000; and WHEREAS upon receipt and review of all grant applications, the Oakland County Cultural Institution Oversight Group determined that additional funding is needed to fulfill all submitted requests; and WHEREAS the Oakland County Cultural Institution Oversight Group recommends the reallocation of $60,000 from the Oakland Together Emergency Financial Assistance Program and Working Families Support Program to fulfill the grant applications received under the Oakland Together Cultural Institutions COVID-19 Support Fund. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Oakland County Board of Commissioners hereby approves a reallocation of $60,000 from the Oakland Together Emergency Financial Assistance Program and Working Families Support Program towards the Oakland Together Cultural Institution COVID-19 Support Fund. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that no budget amendment is required at this time. Chairperson, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the motion to suspend the rules and vote on Miscellaneous Resolution #20583 — Board of Commissioners — Approval of the Reallocation of CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Money to Oakland Together Cultural Institution COVID-19 Support Fund carried. Moved by Gershenson seconded by Taub the resolution be adopted. Discussion followed.
