IN RE: SHERIFF'S OFFICE — 2021 MARINE SAFETY PROGRAM - GRANT APPLICATION
To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the Sheriff's Office is applying to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for Public Act
451 funding administered through the Marine Safety Grant Program to conduct Marine Safety activities;
and
WHEREAS the 2021 grant application funding request is $475,678 for the program period January 1, 2021,
through December 31, 2021, for State funding and January 1, 2021, through September 30, 2021, for
Federal funding; and
WHEREAS this is the 46th year of grant application; and
WHEREAS last year the Sheriff's Office was awarded $161,550 in grant funding; and
WHEREAS there is no match requirement for Federal funding and a 25% match requirement for State
funding, which will be met by Marine Safety Program expenses budgeted in the Sheriff Office's General
Fund budget; and
WHEREAS the grant application has completed the Grant Review Process in accordance with the Grants
Policy approved by the Board at their January 21, 2021, meeting.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approves the
submission of the 2021 Marine Safety Grant Application from the Michigan Department of Natural
Resources, for the period January 1, 2021, through December 31, 2021, in the amount of $475,678.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that acceptance of this grant does not obligate the County to any future
commitment, and continuation of this program is contingent upon continued future levels of grant funding.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that no budget amendment is required at this time.

Please Note: Pursuant to section IX(H)(1) of the Board Rules, the Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners is
authorized to approve this grant application in excess of $50,000 without full Board approval for purposes of meeting the
application deadline. Accordingly, a miscellaneous resolution is not required.

The 2021 Marine Safety Application is now available. The Applications are due by March
1, 2021 at 11:59 PM. If you are interested in applying, please log into the MiRecGrants online
system here:

After logging in, click "View Available Opportunities" on your "My Home Page" to initiate
and begin a Marine Safety Grant Application. Below are some reminders for completing a
Marine Safety Application in MiRecGrants:
• The Authorized Official for your organization is the only person who can initiate an
application but once initiated, other staff registered in MiRecGrants can complete the
application
• Be sure to save application pages often
• If you navigate away from the page in the system without saving your input, you will lose all
information you completed. You can navigate away from the system and return to complete as
long as you save your input
• To return to your application in process, click on "My Filtered Applications". Change the
program drop down to "Marine Safety Grant Application 2021 ", leave the other fields blank
and hit "Search'. Click on the name (example — MS21-555) to open the application
• Once completed, the Authorized Official is the only one who can submit the completed
application
