The Legislative Affairs and Government Operations (LAGO) Committee, having considered the expiring
appointments on the Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) on March 16, 2021, hereby recommends

I have a son with developmental disabilities who has received support and services
through the OCHN. I have worked with his network of support including residential,
vocational and medical professionals. In my professional life I served as a physician at
the Veterans Administration and am familiar with challenges faced by people with
history of trauma, PTSD and substance use disorders.

I am a retired Family Physician. When I was in practice, I served as primary care doc
for as many as 19 Adult Foster Care Homes at a time. I also provided mental health
services and counseling to all of my own patients who had mild to moderate issues.
I have served continuously on the OCHN Board for almost 18 years and have served as
Secretary, Vice Chair, on the Policy and Management Committee, CEO evaluation
Committee and Executive Committee.
I have a great deal of institutional knowledge and this is needed now due to the
number of new Board Members.
I was very active on the CMHAM( Community Mental Health Association of Michigan)
having served as Secretary, First Vice -President, President and Past President each for

Whether as Mayor of Royal Oak or serving as a legal aid attorney for the Most Holy
Trinity Legal Aid Clinic, I have always believed that "giving back" is essential. As the
parent of a special needs adult son, I have lived through all the ups and downs of his
life and development. I would like to offer my collective life experience to help those
individuals, and their families, who rely upon the services, programs and funding by
OCHN. NOTE: While I have applied for a "General Public" appointment, ialso could
serve as a "Secondary Consumer" as our son lives in a gorup home and receives
services.
