I. Call to Order/ Roll Call Members Present: James VanLeuven Jr., Joseph Rozell, Lauri Siskind, Robert Wittenberg, Jeff Phelps, Brian Partogian, Gwen Markham Members Absent: Dave Woodward, April Lynch (with notice) Others Present: Carly Webster, Human Resources Lisa Villella, Human Resources Aaron Castle, VanOverbeke, Michaud & Timmony, P.C. Ross Gavin, Treasurer’s Office Curtis Childs, Sheriff’s Office Amy Cole, Graystone Erik Burger, Graystone John Krakowiak, Graystone II. Approval of the Agenda A. Moved by Phelps, seconded by Siskind to approve the agenda as submitted. Motion carried. III. Public Comment None IV. Regular Agenda A. Moved by Partogian, seconded by Phelps to approve the minutes of July 29, 2021. Motion carried. B. Retirements 1. Reports A. Stephanie Biddle of Prudential presented the 2nd Quarter 2021 Oakland County Plans Summary and provided comments summarizing highlights contained in the report. Stephanie Biddle provided an update on Empower’s acquisition of Prudential Retirement. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter 2022. B. John Krakowiak, Amy Cole and Erik Burger of Graystone Consulting presented the 2nd Quarter 2021 401a/457b and PTNE Plan Investment Review and provided comments summarizing highlights contained in the report. C. Moved by Siskind, seconded by Partogian to receive and file the August 2021 Administrator’s Report. Motion carried. D. Aaron Castle of VanOverbeke, Michaud & Timmony, P.C. (VMT) provided a verbal update on legal matters. Moved by Rozell, seconded by Markham to receive and file the August 2021 update on securities litigation by Miller Law Firm. Motion carried. Moved by Phelps, seconded by Wittenberg to approve the Oakland County Employees’ Retirement System Authorized Signers Resolution. Motion carried. VI. Unfinished Business A. Moved by Rozell, seconded by Wittenberg to receive and file the Election Committee Statement, certifying that James VanLeuven Jr. will serve as the Retiree Representative Member for term ending August 31, 2023. Motion carried. B. Moved by Rozell, seconded by Markham to authorize an electronic device and monthly data plan to be available to interested trustees with the administrative cost to be evenly split between the OCERS and VEBA Trust. Motion carried. VII. New Business A. Trustees VanLeuven and Wittenberg agreed to be the delegates to represent the Board for the MAPERS Fall Business Meeting and Elections. VIII. Trustee Comment A. Chairperson VanLeuven noted the next meeting of this Board – Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Board of Commissioners in Committee Room A. AndCo Consulting will host a Lunch & Learn beginning at 12:15 p.m. IX.
