Lisa Bro+rn, Onkhmd C'ourrh Clerk / Register of Deeds October 17, 2021 Gary McGillivray Chairman, Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission 2800 Watkins Lake Road Waterford, MI 48328 Dear Chairman McGillivray, Living through a period of global pandemic has given us all a renewed appreciation for the vital importance of parks and outdoor spaces. Parks have been a lifeline for so many, providing a safe place to exercise, socialize and restore mental and physical health. The critical role parks played at this time is also a reminder of the serious implications and long-term consequences of systemic inequities in access and enjoyment of recreational resources. The Oakland County Parks and Recreation system is a tremendous asset that is highly valued by the people of Oakland County. The dedicated team of professionals on the staff at OCPR have a well - deserved reputation for innovation and a passion for serving the public. The next Executive Officer of OCPR must be a wise steward of these extraordinary resources. We must build upon this foundation and continue to evolve the Oakland County Parks and Recreation system to meet the needs of all of our residents and communities. I have been fortunate to have been given the opportunity to serve in several different capacities in Oakland County government for the past 11 years. During my service, I have worked closely with elected officials representing a broad cross-section of backgrounds and beliefs to achieve common goals. As Chief of Staff for the Board of Commissioners, I established a track record of success leading a talented staff team, managing budget resources prudently and improving overall organizational effectiveness. I believe serving the Parks and Recreation Commission as Executive Officer presents an extraordinary opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. I appreciate your consideration.
