MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #22-072

IN RE: Prosecuting Attorney's Office - Resolution Requesting Use of Forfeiture Funds
Chairperson and Members of the Board:
WHEREAS Section 333.7524 of Public Act 368 of 1978 authorizes courts to distribute property and funds
forfeited through narcotic seizures to participating agencies to be utilized toward the enhancement of law
enforcement efforts related to the Controlled Substances Act; and
WHEREAS the Prosecutor's Office has received forfeiture funds from the reimbursement of expenses
associated with forfeiture proceedings; and
WHEREAS the Prosecutor's Office is requesting a portion of these funds ($70,000) to fund the following:
($10,000) to assist Care House in paying for Vidanyx, a cloud based system for conducting recorded child
witness interviews for law enforcement and child welfare agency investigations; ($10,000) to conduct a
community violence prevention assessment (such as the Cure Violence Global Program); and ($50,000) for
prosecutor -specific continuing legal education training from outside agencies such as the Prosecuting Attorneys
Association of Michigan (PAAM) and the National Association of District Attorneys (NDAA); and
WHEREAS the Prosecutor's Office identifies, from time -to -time, equipment or technology that could be used
by the Prosecutor's Office to enhance law enforcement efforts in compliance with state law. Such technology
includes equipment for the processing and presentation of evidence, including presentation in the courtroom in
front of judges and juries, and presentation for training purposes. The Prosecutor's Office is requesting an
additional portion of these funds ($5,000) to fund such equipment on an as -needed basis.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners authorizes the
transfer of $75,000 from the Prosecutor's Seized Fund (#21392) to the Prosecutor's Office General Fund budget
to support training and equipment in accordance with state law for the use of such funds.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the FY 2022 budget is amended as detailed in the attached Schedule A.
