Suarez June 6, 2001 MOTION TO APPROVE AGENDA: Gregory moved to approve the agenda as presented. Supported by Buckley. Motion carried on a voice vote. PUBLIC COMMENT: None APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF May 16, 2001: Buckley moved to approve the minutes of May 16, 2001 as printed. Supported by Suarez. Motion carried on a voice vote. MR #01096 52ND DISTRICT COURT, FIRST AND SECOND DIVISION – AUTHORIZATION FOR ADDITIONAL JUDGESHIP; TRANSFER OF ONE JUDGESHIP FROM THE FIRST TO SECOND DIVISION; AND TRANSFER OF ROSE AND WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIPS FROM FIRST TO THE SECOND DIVISION EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2003: Public Acts 447 and 448 of 2000 provide for the creation of one additional judgeship of the First Division of the 52nd District Court, to be elected November 2002, to take office January 1, 2003. Act 448 would transfer from the First Division the judgeship expiring on January 1, 2005, to the Second Division as of January 1, 2003. These actions would result in Division I having three judges and Division II two judges. Act 448 would also transfer Rose and White Lake Townships from the jurisdiction of the First Division to the Second Division effective January 1, 2003. State Statute requires that the Board of Commissioners confirm creation of a judgeship by resolution. Brian moved the Personnel Committee Report to the full Board with the recommendation MR #01096 be adopted. Supported by Moffitt. Motion carried on unanimous roll call vote with Coleman absent. MR #01150 CENTRAL SERVICES/SUPPORT SERVICES/RECORD RETENTION – CONTINUATION OF FUNDING FOR SIX (6) PTNE 1,000 HR/YR GENERAL HELPER POSITIONS: In an effort to create more record storage space, Oakland County sought an adjustment in its retention period from the State Archives for general criminal and civil records. The new retention guidelines established have resulted in more files qualifying for destruction than originally anticipated. It is a goal of the Record Retention Study Committee to free up enough storage space to accommodate f ive years of growth. These positions are requested from 8/10/2001 through 8/10/2002. Gregory moved the Personnel Committee Report to the full Board with the recommendation MR #01150 be adopted. Supported by Suarez. Motion carried on unanimous roll call vote with Coleman absent. Personnel Committee Page 3 June 6, 2001 PROPOSED BUDGET HEARING SCHEDULE: The Personnel Department presented a proposed budget-hearing schedule for July and August of 2001. Suarez moved to receive and file this item. Supported by Buckley. Motion carried on a voice vote. REPORT – CLASSIFICATION DETERMINATION HEARING SUBCOMMITTEE – RITA WHITING, CLERK III, CIRCUIT COURT: The Classification Determination Hearing Subcommittee met on May 23, 2001 to consider an appeal request from Rita Whiting. The Subcommittee affirmed the decision of the Personnel Department that the proper classification for Ms. Whiting's position is Clerk III. Suarez moved to approve the Report of the Classification Determine Hearing Subcommittee. Supported by Buckley Motion carried on unanimous roll call vote with Coleman absent. MR #01153 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – OAKLAND COUNTY EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY AND AFFIRMATIVE ACTION: Moffitt moved to postpone MR #01153 to the August 8, 2001 Personnel Committee meeting. Supported by Suarez. Motion carried on unanimous roll call vote with Coleman absent. COMMUNICATIONS: PERSONNEL – 2001 POSITION CHANGE SUMMARY: Brian moved to receive and file the 2001 Position Change Summary. Supported by Gregory. Motion carried on unanimous roll call vote with Coleman absent. OTHER BUSINESS: Commissioner Moffitt requested the Personnel Committee consider televising a Committee meeting this year. He will supply current information at the next meeting. Moffitt moved the request be taken under advisement. Supported by Gregory. Motion carried on unanimous roll call vote with Coleman absent. Judy Eaton reported the Centerpointe Diversity Job Expo was very successful and will have a full report available soon. ADJOURNMENT: Gregory moved to adjourn at 11:04 a.m. Supported by Suarez.
