AUDITING DIVISION REPORT REGARDING LITTLE OAKS Jim Fitzpatrick of the Auditing Division commented on the Auditing Divisi ons report requested by the Personnel Committee. Commissioner Coleman requested a dollar figure that represents the County subsidy being provided for children of non-county employees. Mr. Poisson replied that a couple of issues are involved. One, the enrollment is at approximately 80 children. If the population is increased, the subsidy would be reduced. Two involves the category the children fall into, infant, toddler or preschool. As each category requires different ratios of teacher to child, the infant category requires the highest ratio and therefore is more expensive to provide. After the actual tuition amount is determined for each child possibly a commensurate service charge could be added. Commissioner Middleton stated it is not the intention of the committee to close the daycare center but to be able to offer this benefit to all employees of the county at a reasonable price without a county cash subsidy. Commissioner Coleman suggested a survey be taken of county employees to determine if they would enroll their children in Little Oaks and if not, why not. Commissioner Wilson requested a copy of the marketing plan Gretchen's House developed for Little Oaks this calendar year. Chairperson Middleton requested Corporation Counsel work with the Personnel Department to develop a contract for childcare to be extended to June 2005, and have this contract available at the August 27, 2003, Personnel Committee meeting for discussion. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the Committee the meeting was adjourned at 12:00 a.m. _____________________________________ _______________________________________ Nancy Wenzel, Committee Coordinator Helen Hanger, Sr. Committee Coordinator NOTE: The foregoing minutes are subject to Committee approval.
