Personnel Committee Page 2 September 29, 2004 PUBLIC COMMENT None HUMAN RESOURCES – AUTHORIZE THE COUNTY TO EXTEND THE MEDICAL BENEFITS FOR DEPENDENTS OF EMPLOYEES CALLED TO ACTIVE MILITARY DUTY As a result of the September 11, 2001 act of terrorism against the United States County employees have been called to active military duty. This resolutio n authorizes the extension of medical benefits for dependents of an employee called to active duty for the lesser of either the entire duration the employee is considered to be serving or through December 31, 2005. Middleton moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Moss. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Hatchett absent. APPEAL OF JOB AUDIT FROM LINDA SUTTON, LIBRARY TECHNICIAN I The Human Resources Division conducted a Merit Rule 3 job study at the request of Linda Sutton. It was determined that her current classification is the most appropriate for the duties assigned. Linda Sutton has appealed this decision. A hearing before the Classification Determination Subcommittee has been scheduled for October 21, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. in the Pernick-Aaron Conference Room. Rogers moved to schedule the above-mentioned hearing for October 21, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. Supported by Suarez. Motion carried on a voice vote. COMMUNICATIONS Coleman moved to receive and file Communication Items A - C. Supported by Wilson. A. 2004 Position Change Summary B. Vacancy Report 9/3/04 C. Delta Dental PPO Motion carried on a voice vote. OTHER BUSINESS/ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Coleman requested Dorothy Brown be invited to the December 1, 200 4 meeting of the Personnel Committee to report on the Diversity Training Program she has been conducting for the County. Personnel Committee Page 3 September 29, 2004 OTHER BUSINESS/ADJOURNMENT (Continued) Chairperson Jamian announced he has invited senior management from HAP to make a presentation to the Committee regarding innovations taking place in the health care field. He requested Mr. Poisson to have employees from the Employee Benefits Unit attend the meeting also.
