2003 AFFIRMATIVE ACTION REPORT
Mr. Poisson covered some highlights of the Report: An increase in females and minorities
occurred in most all of the occupational categories, including the administrative,
professional and technical areas. Improvement was also seen in data for new hires, for
2003 minority new hires rose to 21.2% while females increased to 62.4%. Several on-going
programs are credited for these improvements, such as a designated recruiter to focus on
minority recruitment and difficult to recruit classifications; formation of the Oakland County
Employment Diversity Council to promote workplace diversity and Cultural Diversity
training for county employees; mandatory for supervisors and voluntary for all other
county employees.
