Chairperson Long called the meeting of the General Government Committee to order at 9:10
a.m. in Committee Room A, Commissioners’ Wing, County Service Center, Pontiac, Michigan.

John Bowker expressed his endorsement for Malkia Maisha to be appointed to the Community
Mental Health Authority to fill the Primary Consumer seat .

1. BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – APPOINTMENT TO THE COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH
AUTHORITY – INTERVIEW MALKIA MAISHA NEWMAN
Ms. Newman was interviewed at 9:12 a.m.
Kowall moved to report to the full Board with the recommendation that Malkia Maisha
Newman be appointed to the Community Mental Health Authority as Primary Consumer.
Supported by Hatchett.
Motion carried on a roll call vote with Crawford voting no and Greimel absent.
COMMUNICATIONS
Chairperson Long read a thank you card that she received from Charles Haviland who had
interviewed for appointment to the Community Mental Health Authority at the last General
Government Committee meeting for the Primary Consumer seat.
OTHER BUSINESS/ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Potter reminded the commissioners that Laura Mancini, Director, Library Services,
had sent an invitation to all of the commissioners for an orientation at the Library after the next
Board meeting on April 5, 2007.
Chairperson Long reminded the commissioners that the Road Commission presentation is today
on the traffic operations center after the Board meeting.
There being no other business to come before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 9:34
p.m.
