COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT : Potter John A. PROSECUTING ATTORNEY – USE OF FORFEITURE FUNDS – ALLIANCE OF COALITIONS FOR HEALTHY COMMUNITIES (ACHC) The Prosecutor is requesting $2,000 from the Prosecutor’s Seized Funds Deferred Revenue account ($439,682.47 balance as of 4/1/08) to be used in “Project Sticker Shock,” a campaign to combat underage drinking. The 15 participating community coalitions will select retail outlets selling alcohol where stickers will be attached to alcohol containers warning sellers and buye rs that providing alcohol to minors is illegal . Middleton moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Burns . Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Potter, Gingell and Potts absent. Commissioner Burns moved this resolution be referred directly to the Finance Committee. There was no objection. 2. PROSECUTING ATTORNEY, AND CIRCUIT COURT -FAMILY DIVISION -PROGRAM YEAR 2008 JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY BLOCK GRANT (JABG) ACCEPTANCE The Department of Human Services has awar ded the Prosecuting Attorney and Circuit Court grant funding of $96,393 of which $86,754 is from the State as a Federal pass through , the balance of $9,639 is the County’s match. The grant provides funds for the Circuit Court Juvenile Drug Court -Art Therapy Program, Circuit Court Juvenile Forum and Peer Groups to address the problem of high recidivism, a Teen Court to provide a justice model within a peer setting, and Prosecuting Attorney juvenile offender backlog reduction staffing. The award also continues funding for one Probation Officer I position and reduces one 1,000 hour PTNE Assistant Prosecutor II position to 289 hours. Acceptance of the grant does not obligate the County to any future commitment and continuation o f the special revenue positions are contingent upon future levels of grant funding. Gregory moved approval of the attached suggested re solution. Supported by Gershenson. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Potter, Gingell and Potts absent.
