BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – AMENDMENT TO STANDING COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP FOR THE GENERAL GOVERNMENT AND PERSONNEL COMMITTEES (POSTPONED FROM SEPTEMBER 8, 2008 MEETING) The report that was postponed from the previous meeting reflected the recommended changes to the membership on the General Government and Personnel Committees, as follows: GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE: Long (Chair), Gingell, (Vice Chair), Hatchett (Minority Vice Chair), Crawford, Kowall, Potter, Jacobsen, Potts, Clark, Gregory, Suarez, Nash, Greimel PERSONNEL COMMITTEE: Middleton (Chair), Jacobsen (Vice Chair), Suarez Spector (Minority Vice Chair), Douglas, Rogers, Scott, Gosselin, Clark, Coleman, Hatchett, Zack, Spector A revised proposed report was submitted at today’s meeting that reflected the recommended changes to the membership of the General Government and Personnel Committees, as follows: GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE: Long (Chair), Gingell, (Vice Chair), Hatchett (Minority Vice Chair), Kowall, Potter, Jacobsen, Potts, Clark , Gregory, Nash, Greimel, ________________ PERSONNEL COMMITTEE: Middleton (Chair), Gosselin (Vice Chair), Douglas, Rogers, Scott, Clark, Coleman, Hatchett, Zack, Spector, __________________ Gingell moved to report to the full Board with the recommendations as stated in the revised report detailed above. To clarify his motion, he further stated that they would hold a spot on each committee for a Democratic appointee which would come through the normal appointment process, with the names submitted by the Democratic Caucus Chairperson. Supported by Kowall. Commissioner Gregory indicated that the minority vice -chairperson positions on the standing committees have always been at the discretion of the minority party, and yet in this report it has been excluded, and the Democratic Party should have the right to appoint who they want to. He indicated that it should be included on the report. Greimel moved to report to the full Board with the recommended changes to the membership on the General Government and Personnel Committees, as follows: GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE: Long (Chair), Gingell, (Vice Chair), Hatchett (Minority Vice Chair), Kowall, Potter, Jacobsen, Potts, Clark, Gregory, Nash, Greimel, ________________ GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE Page 3 September 18, 2008 PERSONNEL COMMITTEE: Middleton (Chair), Gosselin (Vice Chair), Spector (Minority Vice-Chair), Douglas, Rogers, Scott, Clark, Coleman, Hatchett, Zack, Spector, __________________ Supported by Nash. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: Hatchett, Gregory, Nash, Greimel (4) NAYS: Gingell, Crawford, Kowall, Potter, Jacobsen, Potts, Long (7) Motion failed. ROLL CALL VOTE ON MAIN MOTION: AYES: Gingell, Crawford, Kowall, Potter, Jacobsen, Potts, Long (7) NAYS: Hatchett, Gregory, Nash, Greimel (4) Main motion carried on a roll call vote.
