Chairpe rson Long called the meeting of the General Government Committee to order at 9:12 a.m. in
Committee Room A, Commissioners’ Wing, County Service Center, Pontiac, Michigan.

1. APPOINTMENTS TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY CANVASSERS
Appointments to the Oakland County Board of Canvassers are needed for two seats for four-year
terms beginning November 1, 2009 and ending November 1, 2013 . Pursuant to Statute, one seat
must be filled by recommendation of the Democratic Party and one seat must be filled by
recommendation of the Replication Party. Both parties have submitted the required three na mes for
recommendation to fill each of these seats and that information has been submitted to the County
Clerk.
Taub moved to recommend the fol lowing appointments to the Board of Canvassers for four

Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote.
2. TRI-PARTY ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM – FUNDING AND PROJECT APPROVAL
PROCESS
The resolution would continue support of the discretionary Tri -Party Road Improvement Program in
accordance with the provisions and restrictions of MCL 247.121 . The Rules of Policy to continue
the program and reinstate funding for a total of $1 million are outlined in the resolution.
Commissioner Gingell explained that this proposal had been developed in collaboration with the
Administration and the Road Commission for Oakland County.
Taub moved approval of the attached suggested resolution . Supported by Jacobsen.
Motion carried on a roll call vote with McGillivray voting no.

There being no other business to come before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 9:29
a.m.
