Chairperson Long called the meeting of the General Government Committee to order at 9:31 a.m. in
Committee Room A of the Commissioners’ Auditorium Wing, County Service Center, Pontiac,
Michigan.

Scott moved the agenda with removal of Item 4 (Board of Commissioners – Approval of
contracts to Broadcast Board of Commissioners’ Meetings). Supported by Taub.
Motion carried on a voice vote.
1. MR #10016 – BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – RECOGNITION OF THE NATIONAL
ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES (NACo) 75 TH ANNIVERSARY
Introduced by Commissioners Taub an d Coleman, the resolution recognizes the National
Association of Counties (NACo) on the occasion of its 75 th Anniversary and commends its work as a
leader and supporter in strengthening the nation’s counties.
Taub moved to report to recommend approval of the attached suggested resolution.
Supported by Nash.
Motion carried on a roll call vote with Runestad and Scott voting no and Hatchett and
McGillivray absent.
2. BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – AMENDMENT TO THE 2010 RULES FOR THE
OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMM ISSIONERS- SECTION VII
Commissioners Schwartz and Jacobsen have proposed a change to the 2010 Board of
Commissioners’ Rules, Section VII, to insert language allowing visual presentations during Board
meeting.
Schwartz moved to recommend approval of the a ttached suggested resolution. Supported
by Taub.
Jacobsen moved to postpone until the March 15, 2010 meeting of the General Government
Committee. Supported by Taub.
Motion to postpone carried on a voice vote.
3. BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – AMENDMENT TO THE 2010 RULES FOR THE
OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – SECTIONS XI.B. AND XI.E. – STANDING
COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES
The 2010 Board of Commissioners’ Rules would be amended to reflect that the Homeland Security
would report to the General Governme nt Committee rather than the Public Services Committee.
Capello moved approval of the attached suggested report. Supported by Taub.
Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with McGillivray absent .
4. BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – APPOINTMENTS TO THE CITIZENS ADVISORY
COUNCIL FOR THE DETROIT REGIONAL CONVENTION FACILITY AUTHORITY
As directed by the General Government Committee at its January 25, 2010 meeting, a Study Group
was established consisting of Commissioners Potts, Taub, Gershenson and McGillivray to review

those applications submitted by the January 19, 2010 deadline for consideration of appointment to
the Detroit Regional Convention Facility Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). Eight applicants were
selected. All applicants have been contact ed and interviews have been scheduled for the February
22, 2010 General Government Committee meeting and will begin at 9:45 a.m.

Taub moved to receive and file the communications. Supported by Potts.
Motion carried on a voice vote.
