COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: Jeff Potter, Jim Runestad, Tim Burns, Tom Middleton, David W. Potts, Shelley G. Taub, Helaine Zack and Gary R. PUBLIC COMMENT None. APPROVAL OF April 13, 2010 MINUTES Middleton moved approval of the April 13, 2010 Minutes as written. Supported by Taub. Motion carried on a voice vote. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – CONTRACT FOR POLICE AND FIRE DISPATCH SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF WIXOM FOR 2010 - 2012 The City of Wixom has requested the Sheriff’s Office to enter into a contractual agreement for the purpose of Police and Fire Dispatch services. The future level of service, including two GF/GP Dispatch Specialist positions, is contingent upon level of funding associated with this contract. McGillivray PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE Page 2 April 27, 2010 SHERIFF’S OFFICE – 2010 HIGHWAY SAFETY GRANT ACCEPTANCE The Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a grant in the amount $2,000 by the Michigan State Police, Office of Highway Safety Planning. These funds will be used to purchase one Decatur Electronic digital radar system and fi ve Decatur G2 radar hand remote controls. No County funds are required. Acceptance of this grant does not obligate the County to any future commitment. Taub moved approval of the attached suggested resol ution. Supported by McGillivray. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – PAINT CREEK TRAILWAYS CONTRACT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FOR THE 2010 SEASON It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into contracts for the purpose of providing Law Enforcement Patrol services. The Paint Creek Trailways Commission has requested a contract for services of Part Time Non-Eligible Mounted deputies. Continuation of the additional 500 hours added per MR #06129 is contingent upon renewal of this agreement. Middleton moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Burns. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – MARINE PATROL SERVICES AGREEMENT IN THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF WEST BLOOMFIELD – 2010 It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff Patrol services . The Charter Township of West Bloomfield has requested that a contract for marine patrol be authorized. The Sheriff is requesting the creation of two GF/GP PTNE 1,700 hours/year Marine Safety Deputy I positions. Continuation of these positions is contingent on the level of funding associated with this contract. Taub moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by McGillivray. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – MARINE PATROL SERVICES AGREEMENT IN THE VILLAGE OF WOLVERINE LAKE – 2010 It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff Patrol services. The Village of Wolverine Lake has requested that a contract for marine patrol be authorized. The Sheriff is requesting the creation of one GF/GP PTNE 125 hours/year Marine Safety Deputy I position. Continuation of this position is contingent on the level of funding associated with this contract. Zack moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Taub. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – CONTRACT FOR FIRE DISPATCH SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF ROCHESTER HILLS FOR 2010 - 2013 The City of Rochester Hills has requested the Sheriff’s Office to enter into a contractual agreement for the purpose of Fire Dispatch services. The Sheriff is requesting the creation two GF/GP Dispatch Specialist positions. The future level of service, including the two positions, is contingent upon the level of funding associated with this contract. Zack moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Middleton. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS Middleton moved to Receive & File Item A. Supported by Taub. A. HAVEN – START Program October 2009 – December 2010 Motion to Receive & File carried on a voice vote.
