McGillivray PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE Page 2 September 14, 2010 MULTIDEPARTMENTAL: SHERIFF’S OFFICE – CIRCUIT COURT AND CHILDREN’S VILLAGE – 2010 EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) PROGRAM – GRANT ACCEPTANCE The U.S. Department of Justice – Office of Justice Programs has awarded Oakland County and two local jurisdictions grant funding in the amount of $281,129 for the period of October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2013. Oakland County will receive $46,644, the City of Pontiac $145,732 and the City of Southfield $88,753. No grant match is required. Oakland County will use the funds to upgrade the surveillance camera system at Children’s Village and equipment acquisition for the Sheriff’s Office and Circuit Court. Continuation of this program is contingent upon future levels of grant funding. Zack moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Support ed by Taub. Motion carried unan imously on a roll call vote. MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION Mr. Zehnder introduced Marie Ruemenapp, District 11 Coordinator. Ms. Ruemenapp explained that Michigan State University has redistricted their extension program in order to place their coordinators in their area of expertise to better serve the citizens of Michigan. Sheriff’s Office FY 2011 Secondary Road Patrol and Traffic Accident Prevention Program Grant Application Item A - Commissioner Taub questioned if this grant is in addition to the one received to reimburse HAVEN for similar services; or if Impact Consulting Services is replacing HAVEN.
