PUBLIC COMMENT Suzanne Hollyer, Friend of the Court, asked she be allowed to comment now if Item #4 Friend of the Court – FY 2011 Access and Visitation Grant – Amendment #1 Over 15% was removed from the agenda. As Item #4 was not removed from the agenda; she reserved her comments for when it is considered. There was no further Public Comment. McGillivray PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE Page 2 May 24, 2011 APPROVAL OF MAY 10, 2011 MINUTES Dwyer moved to approve the Minutes of May 10, 2011 as printed. Supported by Jackson. Motion carried on a voice vote. Chairperson Runestad announced Mr. Cooperrider of Circuit Court requested Item #2 – Circuit Court – FY 2011 – 2014 Budget Task be removed from the agenda. There was no objection. CIRCUIT COURT – USE OF MEDIATION FUNDS MR #90177 established the Circuit Court Civil Mediation Fund to help pay for Circuit Court enhancements and improvements as requested by the Circuit Court and approved by the Board of Commissioners. The Court is requesting $12,000 to purchase a Jury Room table, chairs and file cabinets, plus $10,000 for Bench/Bar Conference, Case Evaluation administrative expenses for a total of $22,000. Taub moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Gershenson. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote. PROBATE COURT – FY 2011 – 2014 BUDGET TASK In order to meet its share of the budget task, the Probate Court has identified structural revisions in staff positions that impact the General Fund. The Court is requesting the deletion of one vacant Deputy Probate Register II position. Covey moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by McGillivray. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote. FRIEND OF THE COURT – FY 2011 ACCESS AND VISITATION GRANT – AMENDMENT #1 OVER 15% The Friend of the Court received grant funding in the amount of $19,000 to reduce the charge for supervised parenting time (visitation) for low income clients. The Friend of the Court has been aw arded an additional $9,000 to cover additional supervised parenting time. The continuation of this grant program is contingent on the continuation of State funding. Acceptance of this grant does not obligate the County to any future commitment or any matching funds. Discussion followed regarding a possible conflict of inte rest issue. Gershenson moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Covey. Bosnic moved to postpone this item to the June 28, 2011 Public Services Committee meeting. Supported by Dwyer. Motion to postpone failed: Runestad, Dwyer, Bosnic and Matis – yes McGillivray, Gershenson, Jackson and Covey – no Taub – recused Main motion failed: Runestad, Dwyer, Bosnic and Matis – no McGillivray, Gershenson, Jackson and Covey – yes Taub – recused PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE Page 3 May 24, 2011 SHERIFF’S OFFICE – FIRE DISPATCH SERVICE FOR THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF LYON JULY 1, 2011 TO MARCH 31, 2012 For many years the County and the Sherif f have contracted with several Cities and Townships for police and fire dispatch services. The Charter Township of Lyon has requested Fire Dispatch services from the Oakland County Sheriff for the period of July 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012. Dwyer moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Jackson. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote. COMMUNICATIONS None .
