Chairperson Runestad called the meeting of the Public Services Committee to order at 9:22 a.m. in Committee Room A,
Commissioners’ Wing, County Service Center, Pontiac, Michigan.

PUBLIC COMMENT
Commissioner Taub thanked Costco for providing baked goods and invited all to partake.
Commissioner Jackson invited everyone to attend a Town Hall meeting on October 27 th at the Southfield Public Library to
discuss Welfare Reform.
APPROVAL OF September 27, 2011 MINUTES
Covey moved to approve the Minutes of September 27, 2011 as printed. Supported by Jackson.
Motion carried on a voice vote.
PROSECUTING ATTORNEY - FISCAL YEAR 2012 CRIME VICTIM RIGHTS GRANT ACCEPTANCE
The State of Michigan Department of Community Health has awarded th e Oakland County Office of the Prosecuting
Attorney Victim Rights grant funding in the amount of $188,900. The purpose of the grant is to comply with the mandates
set forth in the Michigan Constitution and the Crime Victim’s Rights Act. It is a fixed amo unt and represents only partial
reimbursement of the victim Services program. The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is mandated by law to perform the
Victim rights function regardless of grant reimbursement. No grant match is required.
Taub moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Suppo rted by Dwyer.
Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote.

PROSECUTING ATTORNEY – FISCAL YEAR 2012 VICTIM ADVOCACY PROGRAM – VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT (VOCA)
GRANT ACCEPTANCE
The State of Michigan, Department of Community Health has awarded the Oakland County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney
grant funding in the amount of $83,710; State contribution is $66,968 ((80%) the County contribution is $16,742 (20%) in the
form of in-kind staff cost. The funds are used to expand and enhance local services available to crime victims regarding their
safety, rights, dignity, crisis intervention, court accompaniment, agency refe rrals, assistance with compensation and support
services. Continuation of this program is contingent upon continued grant funding.
Covey moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Jackson.
