Supported by Crawford. Motion carried on a voice vote. PUBLIC COMMENT None. APPROVAL OF THE PREVIOUS MINUTES Matis moved approval of the minutes of February 6, 2012 as printed. Supported by Hoffman. Motion carried on a voice vote. AGENDA ITEMS 1. MR #12028 – BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF AMENDING HB 5309 TO INCLUDE PONTIAC IN ROLLING RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS 1200 N. TELEGRAPH ROAD, PONTIAC, MI 48341-0475 Telephone (248) 858 -0100 FAX (248) 858 -1572 GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE John Scott Bob Gosselin Jeff Matis Bob Hoffman Mattie Hatchett Jim Nash Nancy Quarles GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE Page 2 March 7, 2012 The Clerk is requesting authorization to accept a Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth Grant award of $329,156 for the Remonumentation Program for the period January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012. The total award includes $229,156 for current program costs and $100,000 is reimbursement for expedited expenses. The grant will partially reimburse one existing full-time eligible General Fund/General Purpose Plate & Boundary Review Specialist position. This is the 19th year of state funding for this program. To date 4,475 corne rs have been remonumented and 38 are currently being processed. Hatchett moved to report to recommend approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Crawford. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Quarles absent . 2. MR #12026 – BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – PROCLAIM MARCH 13, 2012 AS K -9 VETERANS DAY IN OAKLAND COUNTY The resolution was introduced by Commissioner Weipert to proclaim March 13, 2012 as K -9 Veterans Day in Oakland County in recognition of all dogs that have served and continue to serve in both military and police operations alongside Americans throughout the nation and the world during war and peacetime . Lyon Township is home to a War Dog Memorial and cemetery maintained by Veteran’s and various other service orga nizations in appreciation and recognition of these animals. Matis moved to report to recommend approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Crawford. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Quarles absent . 3. MR #12027 – BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – RECOGNITION OF MARCH 2012 AS NATIONAL WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH AND THE 2012 THEME: WOMEN’S EDUCATION – WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT The resolution was introduced by Commissioner Hatchett to designated March, 2012 as Women’s History Month and to recognize this year’s theme as “Women’s Education – Women’s Empowerment. The resolution invites all citizens to observe and celebrate with appropriate activities and to visit several websites (www.WomensHist oryMonth.gov and www.MichiganWomen.org ) to learn more. Hatchett moved to report to recommend approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Crawford. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vo te with Quarles absent.
