Chairperson Runestad called the meeting of the Public Services Committee to order at 1:35 p.m. in
Committee Room A of the Commissioners’ Auditorium Wing, County Service Center in Pontiac,
Michigan.

AGENDA ITEMS:
1. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – CONTRACT FOR AUXILIARY DEPUTY SERVICES IN THE CITY OF
ORCHARD LAKE 2012
It is the policy of the Oakland Co unty Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into
contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff Patrol services. The City of
Orchard Lake has requested the Sheriff provide patrol services to their cit izens for special events on an
overtime basis. The contract involves the support of PTNE Mounted Deputies to patrol areas that are not
accessible by other forms of transportation. This contract will take effect on April 1, 2012 and support one
GF/GP PTNE 240 hours/year Mounty Deputy position.
Commissioner Bosnic stated his law firm represents the City of Orchard Lake but that he was not involved
in this issue nor did he personally receive any remuneration regarding this matter.
Taub moved approval of the attached suggested resolution . Supported by Bosnic.

2. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – PAINT CREEK TRAILWAYS CONTRACT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT
SERVICES FOR THE 2012, 2013 AND 2014 SEASONS
It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into
contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff patrol services. The Paint
Creek Trailways Commission has re quested a contact for the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons. This contract
continues the additional 500 hours added per MR #06129.
Matis moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Covey.

3. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – 2012 OFF-ROAD VEHICLE (ORV) SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAM GRANT
ACCEPTANCE
The State of Michigan, Department of Natural Resources has awarded the Sheriff’s Office Marine Safety
Unit $2,160 for the Off-Road Vehicle Safety Education Program for the period October 1, 2011 through
September 30, 2012. No county match or additional positions are required. Acceptance of this g rant does
not obligate the County to any future commitment and is contingent upon future levels of reimbursement of
program funding.

4. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – MARINE PATROL SERVICES AGREEMENT IN THE TOWNSHIP OF
ADDISON - 2012
It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into
contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff patr ol services. The Township
of Addison has requested a contract for marine patrol services for the citizens of the Township for lakes
therein. This contract will continue funding for one GF/GP PTNE 125 hours/year Marine Safety Deputy I
position and is contingent upon the level of funding associated with this contract.
Matis moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Jackson.

5. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – MARINE PATROL SERVICES AGREEMENT IN THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP
OF COMMERCE - 2012
It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into
contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providi ng Sheriff patrol services. The Charter
Township of Commerce has requested a contract for marine patrol services for the citizens of the Township
for lakes therein. This contract will continue funding for one GF/GP PTNE 250 hours/year Marine Safety
Deputy I position and is contingent upon the level of funding associated with this contract.

6. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – MARINE PATROL SERVICES AGREEMENT IN THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP
OF HIGHLAND - 2012
It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into
contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff patrol services. The Charter
Township of Highland has requested a contract for marine patrol services for the citizens of the Township
for lakes therein. This contract will continue funding for one GF/GP PTNE 250 hours/year Marine Safety
Deputy I position and is contingent upon the level of funding associated with this contract.

OF INDEPENDENCE - 2012
It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into
contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff patrol services. The Charter
Township of Independence has requested a contract for marine patrol services for the citizens of the
Township for lakes therein. This contract will continue funding for on e GF/GP PTNE 125 hours/year Marine
Safety Deputy I position and is contingent upon the level of funding associated with this contract.

It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into
contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff patrol services. The City of
Orchard Lake Village has requested a contract for marine patrol services for their citizens for lakes therein.
This contract will continue funding fo r one GF/GP PTNE 250 hours/year Marine Safety Deputy I position
and is contingent upon the level of funding associated with this contract.

contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff patrol services. The Charter
Township of Orion has requested a contract for marine patrol services for the citizens of the Township for
lakes therein. This contract will contin ue funding for one GF/GP PTNE 640 hours/year Marine Safety
Deputy I position and is contingent upon the level of funding associated with this contract.

It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Of fice to enter into
contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff patrol services. The Charter
Township of Waterford has requested a contract for marine patrol services for the citizens of the Township
for lakes therein. This contract will create one GF/GP PTNE 250 hours/year Marine Safety Deputy I
position and is contingent upon the level of funding associated with this contract.

11. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – MARINE PATROL SERVICES AGREEMENT IN THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP
OF WEST BLOOMFIELD - 2012
It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permi t the Sheriff’s Office to enter into
contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff patrol services. The Charter
Township of West Bloomfield has requested a contract for marine patrol services for the citizens of the
Township for lakes therein. This contract will continue funding for two GF/GP PTNE 1,700 hours/year
Marine Safety Deputy I positions and is contingent upon the level of funding associated with this contract.

It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into
contracts with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff patrol services. The Charter
Township of White Lake has requested a contract for marine patrol services for the citizens of the Township
for lakes therein. This contract will continue funding for one GF/GP PTNE 250 hours/year Marine Safety
Deputy I position and is contingent upon the level of funding associated with this contract.
