Chairperson Runestad called the meeting of the Public Services Committee to order at 9:44 a.m. in
Committee Room A of the Commissioners’ Auditorium Wing, County Service Center in Pontiac, Michigan.

APPROVAL OF THE PREVIOUS MINUTES
Taub moved approval of the April 24, 2012 Minutes. Supported by Jackson
Motion carried on a voice vote.

AGENDA ITEMS:
1. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – USE OF LAB ENHANCEMENT FUNDS FOR EQUIPMENT
Public Act 35 of 1994 “The Forensic Laboratory Funding Act” authorizes courts to collect an assessment to be sent
to the State for annual distribution to a municipality applying for funds to be utilized to enhance forensic efforts.
The State has distributed $923,067.13 as a result of the Sheriff’s Office la boratory efforts. The Sheriff’is requesting
$59,620 from these funds for the purchase of a 3D Scanner.
Dwyer moved approval of the attached suggested resolution . Supported by Taub.
Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote .

Commissioner Taub asked how the DNA project is developing. Under Sheriff McCabe stated it will be up and
running in approximately 16 months. The laboratory will need some renovation and two positions will be created.
It is expected the County will have a turnaround rate of approximately one month while the State when asked to
expedite results required five months.
