Chairperson Runestad called the meeting of the Public Services Committee to order at 1:30 p.m. in
Committee Room A of the Commissioners’ Auditorium Wing, County Service Center in Pontiac, Michigan.

AGENDA ITEMS:
1. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – CONTRACT FOR AUXILIARY DEPUTY SERVICES IN THE CITY OF ROYAL OAK
2012
It is the policy of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners to permit the Sheriff’s Office to enter into con tracts
with local units of government for the purpose of providing Sheriff Patrol services. The City of Royal Oak has
requested the Oakland County Sheriff provide patrol services to the citizens of the City for special events within the
City. The Sheriff’s Office requests that a contract for special events on an overtime basis be authorized effective
September 1, 2012.
Dwyer moved approval of the attached suggested resolution . Supported by Jackson.
Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote.
2. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – USE OF FORFEITED FUNDS FOR EQUIPMENT
Section 333.7524 of Public Act 368 of 1978 authorizes courts to distribute property and funds forfeited through
narcotic seizures to participating agencies to be utilized toward the enhancement of la w enforcement efforts related
to the Controlled Substances Act. The Sheriff is requesting $256,3 57 to purchase equipment as per the attached
list to be used by the Sheriff’s Office to enhance law enforcement efforts in compliance with state law. A portion of
these funds will be utilized to fund a pilot program for a retired Sgt./IT specialist for crime mapping and intelligence
gathering. The Sheriff will request the creation of one position if the pilot program is successful.
Matis moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by McGillivray
