APPROVAL OF THE PREVIOUS MINUTES Spisz moved approval of the minutes of December 2, 2014, as printed. Supported by McGillivray. Motion carried on a voice vote. PUBLIC COMMENT Kevin Oeffner introduced Dave Bilson, Deputy Court Administrator, who started with the Circuit Court on January 2, 2015. Supported by McGillivray. Motion carried on a voice vote. AGENDA ITEMS 1. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – APPROVAL OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN PONTIAC SCHOOLS, OAKLAND SCHOOLS AND TH E OAKLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE The Sheriff’s Office is seeking approval of a Memorandum of Understanding between Pontiac Schools, Oakland Schools and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office for a grant a pplication to receive funds to purchase equipment to help with security at Pontiac Schools. There was a one -time appropriation of about $3.2 million set aside by the State of Michigan for all school districts, charter schools and private schools to apply for funds. One of the requirements to apply for funds is to have a Memorandum of Understanding. The Memorandum of Understanding requires joint decision making and/or collaboration for many responsibilities to successfully implement the Michigan State Police School Safety Program Grant. Approval of this Me morandum of Understanding does not obligate the County to any future commitment. Spisz moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Jackson. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – CONTRACT AMENDMENT #2 FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FOR THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION 2013 – 2015 The Sheriff’s Office is seeking approval of an Amendment #2 to the Law Enforcement S ervices Contract with the Parks and Recreation Commission for 2013 – 2015 to upgrade two Deputy I positions to Deputy II positions for the period of February 21, 2015 to December 31, 2015. Scott moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by McGillivray. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote. 3. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – CONTRACT AMENDMENT #2 FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES IN THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF INDEPENDENCE 2013 – 2015 The Sheriff’s Office is seeking approval of an Amendment #2 for the Law Enforcement Services Contract in the Charter Township of Independence 2013 – 2015 to add one General Fund/General Purpose Deputy II position in the Patrol Services Division/Independence Township of the Sheriff’s Office for the period of February 21, 2015 to December 31, 2015. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – 2014 AAA TRAFFIC SAFETY EQUIPMENT GRANT ACCEPTANCE The Sheriff’s Office has been awarded $10,493 in grant funding from the AAA Michigan Traffic Safety Equipment Contribution Initiative. There is no County match required. The funds will be used to purchase portable crash scene lights and speed Lidar units to assist the Crash Reconstruction Unit and improve police and fire crash scene safety when investigati ng crash scenes at night. Undersheriff McCabe indicated that they can use this equipment to assist other local jurisdictions, as well, in their crash scene investigations. Spisz moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Kowall. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote. 5. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – CONTRACT AMENDMENT #3 FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES IN THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF COMMERCE 2013 – 2015 The Sheriff’s Office is seeking approval of an Amendment #3 to add one Patrol Investigator to the Law Enforcement Services contract between the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and the Charter Township of Commerce for the period of February 21, 2015 to December 31, 2015. The resolution approves the Amendment #3 and its attached Schedule A t o the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office 2013 – 2015 Law Enforcement Services Agreement with the Charter Township of Commerce. Spisz moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Jackson. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote . 6. FRIEND OF THE COURT – FY 2015 ACCESS AND VISITATION GRANT - ACCEPTANCE The Friend of the Court has been awarded $12,000 in grant funding from the State Court Administrative Office for the period of October 1, 2014 through September 30, 2015. Ms. Holly er explained that funds are allocated based on case load size, and the amount of money awarded this year has been reduced considerably from previous years. This grant provides funding for supervised parenting services for Oakland County’s lower income res idents for supervised parenting time. The services will be provided by Impact Consulting, Inc. Spisz moved approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by McGilivray. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote. COMMUNICATIONS A. Sheriff’s Office – CY 2015 Marine Safety Program Grant Application B. Prosecuting Attorney – 2014 – 2015 Title IV-E Client Services Contract – Grant Application C.
