REGULAR AGENDA
1. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES/HEALTH DIVISION – OAKLAND
UNIVERSITY, FISCAL YEAR 2017 REACH GRANT ACCEPTANCE
The Health Division is requesting acceptance of the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community
Health (REACH) program grant. The funding period is from October 1, 2016 to September 30,
2017. The award is in the amount of $129,306, which is a $50,382 decrease from last year. The
decrease is due to the grant being in the final year of three years and the current need is no t as
great for supplies as in the past. This grant is a continuation grant that funds one full-time eligible
Public Health Educator. This position will be affecte d by the sunset clause and the employee is
aware that if the grant monies are discontinued, the position will be terminated. Oakland University
has partnered with the Health Division on behalf of the Healthy Pontiac We Can! Coalition that
targets obesity issues in Pontiac’s public. The Finance Committee voted unanimous approval of the
grant last week.
Taub moved to recommend approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by
Fleming.
Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Gershenson, Hoffman and Woodward
absent.
2. BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS - STATUS OF APPOINTMENT TO OAKLA ND COUNTY
COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH AUTHORITY BOARD
Chairperson Long stated that the Primary Consumer vacancy of the Oakland County Community
Mental Health Authority (OCCMHA) board would be posted. The deadline to receive applications
was set for November 15, 2016. This would allow enough time to collect applications and conduct
interviews by the end of the year. T he date could be extended if necessary. There were no
objections.
