Chairperson Hoffman called the meeting of the Human Resources Committee to order at 9:42 a.m.
in Committee Room A of the Commissioners’ Auditorium Wing, County Service Center in Pontiac,
Michigan.

AGENDA ITEMS
1. MR #17060 – SHERIFF’S OFFICE – USE OF FORFEITED FUNDS
The Sheriff’s Office is seeking approval of the use of $402,986 of forfeiture fun ds from the Sheriff’s Office
Law Enforcement Enhancement Account to purchase equipment, pay for SWAT Training and cover the
cost of a part -time, non-eligible Parks Deputy position for the Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET)
program. The equipment includes a Long Range Acoustical Device (LRAD), which is a portable device
that can be mounted on a vehicle that can be used in circumstances such as a barricaded gu nman or to
disperse crowds because it is so loud that it can penetrate ten walls. The LRAD equipment is $40,000,
the SWAT Training is $15,000 for the year, and $22,986 of the forfeiture funds will be used for a 1,000-
hour, part-time, non-eligible Court/Park Deputy for the NET prog ram to perform clerical duties.
Weipert moved to report to recommend approval of the attached s uggested Resolution.
Supported by Kochenderfer.
Middleton moved to report to amend the BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED paragraph, as follows:
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that to create one (1) GF/GP PTNE 1,000 hour Court/Parks
Deputy II Court/Park Deputy position be created in the Sheriff’s Office, Investigative Services
Division, NET Unit (4030920).
Supported by Kochenderfer.
Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Spisz absent.
Main motion, as amended, carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Spisz absent.
