AGENDA ITEMS
1. MR #18061 – PUBLIC SERVICES/ANIMAL CONTROL & SHERIFF’S OFFICE – TRANSFER OF
DISPATCH SERVICES FROM ANIMAL CONTROL TO SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND POSITION
DELETIONS AND CREATIONS
The resolution reflects that, having held the required Public Hearing, the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners approves the transfer of dispatch services from Animal Control to the Oakland County
Sheriff’s Office unit. As part of the transfer, two positions will be deleted in Animal Control, and one
position will be created in the Sheriff’s Office. Commissioner Bowman indicated that he is thankful for
the services that Animal Control provides in Pontiac and asked if dispatch services are available for
Pontiac residents as well. Mr. Gatt stated that if there is a problem with a domestic animal, residents
can call dispatch. If it is a wild animal, then the Road Commission for Oakland County or the lo cal
department of public safety should be contacted.
Chairperson Hoffman set a public hearing on this matter for March 21, 2018, at 7:00 p.m.
Weipert moved to report to recommend approval of the attached suggested resolution.
Supported by Bowman.
Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote.
2. HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT – EXTENSION OF MERIT SYSTEM CERTIFIED
ELIGIBILITY LISTS
Under the provisions of Section Vl-H-1 of Merit System Resolution #08119, the Human Resources
Department is requesting the extension of 22 Eligibility Lists for an additional six (6) months.
Commissioner Bowman expressed his appreciation for the Eligibility List that reflects the percentage
of minorities who have applied for the County roles; however, he requested that there be a record of
diversity of the County overall, and until he receives that information, he cannot support the extension
of the Eligibility Lists.
Weipert moved approval of the extension of the requested Eligibility Lists. Supported by
Middleton.
Motion carried on a roll call vote with Bowman voting no.
