APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Fleming moved approval of the minutes of March 13, 2018, as printed. Supported by Bowman. Motion carried on a voice vote. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Bowman moved approval of the agenda, as presented. Supported by Berman. Motion carried on a voice vote. AGENDA ITEMS 1. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY AFFAIR S – COMMUNITY & HOME IMPROVEMENT DIVISION – HOUSING COUNSELING PROGRAMS AND SERVICES An overview of the Department of Economic Development and Community Affairs , Community and Home Improvement Division, was led by Ms. Williams. A PowerPoint p resentation was given and Ms. Williams provided a brief history and the purpose of the department. Three staff members are certified for housing counseling by the State of Michigan (HUD, MSHDA and NCHEC): Ms. Williams, Ms. Felice and Mr. O’Donnell. Continuing education of ten hours is required annually to remain certified. Ms. Williams gave examples of the types of co unseling provided to residents for their housing needs: Rental, Financial Management, Pre - and Post-Purchase, Fair Housing, Mortgage/Property Tax Foreclosures and Reverse Mortgages . Out of the clientele that receive services, 80% are considered low income; however , services are offered to clients of any income level. The Housing Education P rogram Grant, which provides funding for the programs and services, has been submitted and the application has been provided to the Committee members under Communications. A brief discussion was held. COMMUNICATIONS A. Economic Development and Community Affairs Department – Community & Home Improvement Division – Program Year (PY) 2018/2019 Housing Education Program – Grant Application Berman moved to receive and file Communication s Item A. Supported by Woodward. Motion carried on a voice vote.
