APPROVAL OF THE PREVIOUS MINUTES Berman moved approval of the minutes of August 14, 2018, as printed. Supported by Jackson. Motion carried on a voice vote. PROSECUTING ATTORNEY – CONTINUATION OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING AGREEMENT WITH OAKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is requesting approval to continue the contract for Law Enforcement Training with Oakland Community College (OCC). The contract with OCC is for educational services through the Oakland Police Academy. The Prosecutor provides classes from two to eight hours of time that cover various issues, such as search and seizure, Miranda rights, trust law and public and domestic violenc e laws. A test follows each series, with a final mock trial at the end of the semester. This item has completed the Automatic Direct Referral process. Tietz moved to recommend approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by McGillivray. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Spisz absent. 2. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – MARINE PATROL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF BRANDON 2018 The Sheriff’s Office is requesting approval of a contract for marine patrol services for Bra ndon Township. The contract took effect on August 4, 2018. The homeowners’ association of Bald Eagle Lake requested marine patrol services for the rem ainder of the season. This item has completed the Automatic Direct Referral process. McGillivray moved to recommend approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Berman. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Spisz absent. 3. SHERIFF’S OFFICE – TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP AND RELEASE OF CLAIMS AGREEMENT FOR K -9 DOG (EIKO) The Sheriff’s Office is requesting approval of an ownership transfer agreement regarding K -9, Eiko. The eight-year-old dog is retiring due to age and health issues . Deputy Loken is willing to take ownership of the dog, Eiko, for $1. McGillivray moved to recommend approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by Berman. Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Spisz absent. COMMUNICATIONS A. Sheriff’s Office –FY 2019 Secondary Road Patrol Grant – Application B. Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center – Intake/Disposition Report for July 2018 and Monthly Analysis Report PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE Page 3 August 28, 2018 Tietz moved to receive and file the Communications. Supported by Berman. Motion carried on a voice vote.
