Chairperson Long called the meeting of the General Government Committee to order at 6:12 p.m. in
Committee Room A of the Commissioners’ Auditorium Wing, County Service Center in Pontiac, Michigan.

AGENDA ITEMS
1. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES/HEALTH DIVISION – OAKLAND
SCHOOLS, GREAT PARENTS GREAT START AND HOME VISITATION GRANT AMENDMENT
#1
The resolution approves an Amendment #1 to the Great Parents Great Start and Home Visitation
Program Grant. Amendment #1 extends the grant period from August 31, 2018 to September 30, 2018,
and increases funding in the amount of $24,999, bringing the total grant award to $151,105. The grant
will continue to fund one (1) Special Revenue (SR) Full-Time Eligible (FTE) Public Health Nurse III
position. The Home Visitation Program provides nursing services to first-time moms in the southern
areas of Oakland County.
Fleming moved to recommend approval of the attached suggested resolution. Supported by
Hoffman.
Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Gershenson, Kochenderfer and Quarles
absent.
2. MR #18341 – BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 2018 AS “AMERICA’S
WORKFORCE: EMPOWERING ALL” MONTH IN OAKLAND COUNTY IN CONJUNCTION WITH
THE NATIONAL DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH
The resolution recognizes October 2018 as America’s Workforce: Empowering All Month in Oakland
County and calls upon communities and citizens in Oakland County to take time to recognize workplaces
and employees working with disabilities as a critical part of building an inclusive community and a strong
economy. Programs and activities are encouraged to promote the message that people with disabilities
are equal to the task throughout the year.
Hoffman moved to report to recommend approval of the attached suggested resolution.
Supported by Fleming.
Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Gershenson, Kochenderfer and Quarles
absent.
